Osun: Hon Awotunde wins Ifelodun LG election, vows to deliver on promises

Following his victory in the Osun State local government elections, Hon. (Otunba) Sarafadeen Abiodun Awotunde has assured the people of Ifelodun that his leadership will be one of action, transparency, and progress.

Addressing a gathering in Ikirun on Saturday, February 22, 2025, Awotunde expressed his gratitude to the people for entrusting him with leadership once again. “With profound gratitude to Almighty God and a humble heart, I stand before you today to accept the responsibility you have bestowed upon me as the newly elected Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government,” he declared.

He emphasized that his victory belongs to the people of Ifelodun, especially those who share a vision of a better and more prosperous local government. He also commended the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) for conducting a peaceful and transparent election, despite challenges.

Awotunde called on all residents, including his fellow contestants, to join hands with him in building a better Ifelodun.

“Our collective aim is the progress of Ifelodun. I call on everyone to unite with me beyond party lines for the good of our people,” he said.

He extended special appreciation to his party (PDP), campaign team, family, and volunteers, acknowledging their unwavering support and sacrifices. He assured them that their trust in him would not be in vain.

Reflecting on his campaign interactions across the local government, Awotunde reiterated his commitment to delivering improved infrastructure, better healthcare services, quality education, economic support for farmers and traders, and empowerment programmes for youths and women.

“Today, I pledge before you all that those promises will not be mere words or political talks just to win elections. I assure you all that my administration will be one of action, fulfillment of promises, service to the people, transparency, and accountability,” he vowed.

He also pledged to work closely with Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, whom he praised for his people-centered governance. According to him, his administration will align with the state government’s vision to drive economic growth, peace, and development in Ifelodun.

Calling on residents to support his administration, he stressed that collective effort is key to success. “Let’s foster unity, embrace peace, and work together for the progress of our beloved local government. There is no challenge too great when we stand united,” he urged.

As he prepares to assume office, Awotunde reassured the people of his commitment to fairness, integrity, and impactful leadership. “I am here to serve again, to listen, and to lead with integrity and fairness. May Almighty God guide us in this noble endeavor,” he concluded.

With his tenure set to begin, the people of Ifelodun now look forward to seeing these promises materialize as they embark on what Awotunde calls “the journey to a greater Ifelodun.”
