The family of Hafsoh Yetunde, a final-year student at Kwara State College of Education, is mourning her brutal murder after her dismembered body was discovered in the home of a self-styled Alfa, Abdulrahman Mohad Ballo, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The suspect, now in police custody, allegedly lured Hafsoh through Facebook and phone conversations before killing her for ritual purposes.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday, February 10, 2025, when Hafsoh left a naming ceremony to answer a phone call and never returned.
Her family and friends launched a frantic search before reporting her disappearance to the Oja Oba Police Station in Ilorin the following day.
Police investigators traced Hafsoh’s last call to Ballo, who resides in the Offa Garage area of Ilorin. During a search of his residence, officers made a horrifying discovery: Hafsoh’s dismembered body was found in a bowl, alongside tools suspected to have been used in the gruesome act.
Ballo initially claimed that Hafsoh died from an asthma attack after visiting his home. However, the evidence at the scene, including a table equipped with dismemberment tools, suggests this may not be his first crime.
The suspect, who is the son of a well-known Islamic cleric from Isalekoto, is currently detained at the Kwara State Police Headquarters.
The shocking murder has sparked outrage and calls for justice, as the community grapples with the horrific details of the crime.
