Kebbi State: Governor Nasir Idris releases N2.7 billion for students’ welfare

Governor Nasir Idris has approved and disbursed N2.7 billion to support Kebbi State students studying both locally and abroad.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar-Tunga, during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.

The funds will cover students’ upkeep, accommodation, and travel expenses across multiple universities worldwide.

According to Abubakar-Tunga, a total of N117.2 million has been allocated for 25 Kebbi students in Egypt, ensuring they receive financial assistance for their living expenses and accommodation.

Additionally, the state government funded return tickets for eight Kebbi State graduates from an Indian university, amounting to N14.4 million. The commissioner emphasized that the overall disbursement exceeds N2.7 billion, benefiting both local and international students.

He expressed appreciation for Governor Idris’ dedication to advancing education, stating: “The Ministry for Higher Education remains indebted to His Excellency for his tireless efforts in promoting academic and moral excellence in our tertiary institutions.”

Abubakar-Tunga further urged the people of Kebbi State to continue supporting the administration’s education-driven initiatives.
