Katsina attack: Speaker House of Reps. demands justice for 10 slain tomato traders

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has called for urgent action against those responsible for the deadly ambush that claimed the lives of 10 tomato traders from Zaria.
In a statement issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Speaker Abbas expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident. He strongly denounced the attack, urging security agencies to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators.
“This heinous act must not go unpunished. I call on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue those kidnapped, arrest the culprits, and bring them to justice,” Abbas declared.
The traders, all from Danmagaji Market in Zaria, were on a business trip to Katsina and Zamfara to purchase tomatoes when they were attacked by armed bandits at Takoki village in Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State.
In a desperate attempt to escape, their truck driver reversed at high speed, but the vehicle tragically fell off a bridge.
The aftermath of the attack left 10 traders dead, while seven sustained injuries and five remain missing, feared kidnapped. Additionally, goods worth an estimated ₦60 million were reportedly destroyed.
Speaker Abbas extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, praying for the repose of their souls as he also called for the urgent need for improved security measures to protect traders and innocent citizens from such brutal attacks.
