Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has revealed that Marcus Rashford’s departure stemmed from a disconnect in their footballing philosophies.

The 27-year-old forward, who had been with United since childhood, has joined Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season, with an option for a permanent £40 million transfer.

“I couldn’t get Marcus to see the way you’re supposed to play football and to train the way I see it,” Amorim admitted, acknowledging the challenges of aligning Rashford with his tactical vision.

He likened the situation to how players can excel under one coach but struggle under another.

Despite their differences, Amorim wished Rashford success at Villa under Unai Emery, calling him a “very good player.”

When asked if Rashford explicitly disagreed with his footballing philosophy, Amorim responded, “It’s something that you feel as a coach and as a player. It’s quite normal. It happened with a lot of coaches.”

Taking full responsibility for the decision, Amorim also referenced his other loan choices, including Tyrell Malacia and Antony, stressing that squad decisions were entirely his own.
