The Nigeria Police Force, Imo State Command, has recorded a significant success in its anti-terrorism efforts, neutralizing three Eastern Security Network (ESN) kingpins and dismantling their deadly hideouts.

According to a statement released by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, the tactical operatives, acting on credible intelligence, launched a coordinated operation to locate and dislodge ESN hideouts in Ihube, Okigwe Local Government Area.

Upon reaching the forested hideout, operatives came under heavy fire from suspected IPOB/ESN terrorists but courageously engaged them in a fierce gun battle.

Six terrorists were neutralized in the operation, including three key figures: Ifeanyi Anayo a.k.a. Zuma De Rock (28), Chukwuemeka Odionyenfe a.k.a. Nmimi (22), and Kingsley Sunday (21)—all natives of Ogube, Ihube. Recovered items included five AK-47 rifles, 552 rounds of live ammunition, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), communication equipment, and eight operational motorcycles.

Investigations linked the group to high-profile crimes such as the April 2021 attack on the Owerri Correctional Center, the December 2022 killing of five policemen in Umunna, and the February 2022 burning of the Arondizuogu Police Station.

They were also responsible for multiple kidnappings, including WAEC staff, reverend sisters, and Chinese nationals.

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun praised the operatives’ bravery, urging sustained efforts to enhance public safety. He called on citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement to promote peace nationwide.
