The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has debunked claims circulating on social media about a supposed Federal Government program offering a N50,000 Child Support Grant for Nigerian parents.

In a statement issued Saturday in Abuja, the ministry’s Director of Information, Rhoda Iliya, dismissed the reports as false and warned the public to be cautious of fraudsters exploiting the fake announcement.
“This is a scam trending on social media, and the ministry has tagged it as fake news,” Iliya stated. She emphasized that the ministry is not associated with any such registration portal and that any government program of this nature would be preceded by proper public awareness campaigns.

The ministry urged Nigerians to avoid falling victim to such scams, advising them to remain vigilant and spread the word to family, friends, and acquaintances.

“Nigerians should be careful. Do not become victims of these scammers on social media. Alert your families, friends, and well-wishers not to apply,” the statement read.

The ministry reiterated its commitment to transparency in all initiatives and assured the public that any legitimate government program would be communicated officially through verified channels.
