“From mourning to peace’: Plateau security improved in 2024, says Governor Mutfwang
Governor Caleb Mutfwang has reported significant improvements in Plateau State’s security in 2024, with no major breaches recorded throughout the year.
Speaking to State House correspondents after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos, Mr. Mutfwang expressed optimism about the state’s progress.
“I came to see the president, who has been very concerned about the security situation in Plateau,” the governor remarked. “You will recall that in 2023, around this time, Plateau State was in mourning. Now we’ve been able to celebrate Christmas with relative peace, moving towards the New Year.”
He attributed the improved security to the dedicated efforts of security forces, advancements in technology, and active community mobilization. “The security forces are on the ground and doing their best. We have also invested heavily in technology and mobilized our communities,” he explained.
While acknowledging that isolated incidents persist, the governor emphasized the overall improvement and reassured citizens that efforts to address remaining challenges would continue. “With the support of Mr. President, I can assure you that we will not take our foot off the pedal,” he said.
Governor Mutfwang also highlighted his administration’s commitment to creating a secure environment conducive to investment and economic growth. “Our goal is to reassure our people and instill confidence in Nigerians, especially those considering investing in Plateau.
“The climate is right, the environment is conducive, and I believe that 2025 will be an even better year,” he concluded.
