The Elerin of Erin-Ile, His Royal Highness Oba Jimoh Adesoye Adebowale Adetona (I), has called on the residents of the ancient community to uphold peace and work collectively towards its growth and development.

The monarch made this appeal on Monday during a symbolic event in Erinle where leaves (Ewe Akoko) were placed on his head, signifying the people’s acceptance of his leadership.

Addressing reporters on the sidelines of the event, Oba Adebowale emphasized the importance of unity among all religious and cultural groups in the community.

“Without peace, there cannot be progress and development. So, I want to advise Christians, Muslims, and traditional worshippers in the community to come together and allow peace to reign among themselves,” he stated.

He further stressed the need for change and collective effort, saying, “If you want a change, you have to change the way of doing things. So there should be peace among ourselves and we should also help one another. So, I will do the best I can do but I need their 100 percent cooperation.”

The Elerin revealed plans to leverage his connections with the diaspora to expedite the community’s progress. His vision includes creating job opportunities for the youth by equipping them with marketable skills to boost Erin-Ile’s socio-economic activities.

“With all the experiences I have had in America, I should be able to make an impact on them. I need everybody’s cooperation because I can’t do it alone but with their support and cooperation,” he said.
