Video: Massive fire ravages Araromi spare parts market in Ibadan, hoodlums blamed for exploiting incident

A devastating fire engulfed the popular Araromi spare parts market at Agodi-Gate in Ibadan, Oyo State, in the early hours of Saturday.
The inferno, which erupted around 2 a.m., has left properties worth millions of naira in ruins. Firefighters have been working tirelessly to contain the blaze, which has already caused significant destruction.
Akinyemi Akinyinka, General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, disclosed that hoodlums exploited the chaos of the fire incident at the market, locally known as “Iso Part.”
“Hoodlums have broken into shops at Araromi Agodi-Gate, and they are embarrassing and harassing men and officers of the Fire Service,” Akinyinka revealed.
The individuals, numbering in the hundreds, disrupted firefighting efforts and subjected officers to harassment and humiliation.
The fire, which raged for hours before firefighters arrived to combat it, has destroyed goods and properties valued at millions of naira. While the immediate cause of the inferno remains unknown, investigations are underway to determine the origin of the disaster.
Despite the heroic efforts of the firefighters, the dual challenge of battling the blaze and dealing with unruly hoodlums has compounded the tragedy, leaving shop owners and residents in despair.
