Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior was named the 2024 Best FIFA Men’s Player at a glitzy awards ceremony held Tuesday in Doha, Qatar.

The 24-year-old Real Madrid star was instrumental in his team’s UEFA Champions League and Spanish La Liga triumphs this year. In June, he scored the decisive second goal as Real Madrid defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the Champions League final at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Vinicius’ club manager, Carlo Ancelotti, also received top honors, winning the Best FIFA Men’s Coach 2024 award. The 65-year-old Italian was celebrated for steering Real Madrid to dual glory in the Champions League and La Liga.

Argentina’s Emiliano Martinez, who plays for Aston Villa, was named Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper of the year. Meanwhile, his compatriot Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United claimed the FIFA Puskas Award for his spectacular bicycle kick goal against Everton.

On the women’s side, Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmatí secured the title of Best FIFA Women’s Player for 2024. The 26-year-old Spanish international played a pivotal role in her team’s successful defense of the UEFA Women’s Champions League title, scoring in their 2-0 final victory over Olympique Lyon in Bilbao.
