“Death of Sheikh Ajani Bello is a national loss,” says Governor Abdulrazaq
The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has expressed his shock and sadness at the death of prominent Muslim preacher and scholar, Sheikh Muhyideen Ajani Bello.
The Governor, in a statement, submitted to the will of Allaah, described the death of the revered scholar as a significant loss to the nation.
Governor Abdulrazaq praised Sheikh Ajani Bello for his unwavering commitment to advocating for Islamic monotheism, piety, civic virtue, and responsible leadership.
He highlighted the Sheikh’s four decades in the national limelight, during which he earned respect across social strata for his disciplined scholarship and ability to speak truth to power with sensitivity and tact.
“He kept his honour as a disciplined scholar with mass appeals across social strata. He spoke truth to power in a nuanced way that respects sensibilities in equal measures,” the Governor said.
“The death of Sheikh Ajani Bello is, indeed, a national loss. Our commiserations go to the people and government of Oyo State, the Ansar-Ud-Deen Family worldwide, and the Muslim community as a whole. We ask Allaah to ease his accounts, grant him al-jannah Firdaus, and uphold his family upon goodness and his fine legacies,” he concluded.
