Bandits kill six, injure eight in explosive attack on Zamfara road

In another fresh attack, bandits planted explosives along the Mai Lamba axis of the Dansadau-Gusau road in Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State, resulting in the deaths of six people and injuries to eight others.
According to residents of Dansadau, a Volkswagen Golf 3 vehicle triggered the blast when it drove over the planted bomb. Abdullahi Dansadau, a local resident, confirmed that the explosion completely destroyed the vehicle, leaving six dead and eight others wounded.
Graphic images obtained by Channels Television showed the lifeless bodies of victims lying by the roadside, with onlookers visibly shaken by the scene.
Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansar Yamma, confirmed the incident in a statement. He expressed concern over the attack and assured the public that efforts were underway to apprehend those responsible.
“We acknowledge the reports regarding the suspected bandits planting explosives along the Dansadau-Gusau Road, which unfortunately led to some destruction,” he said. Abdullahi emphasized that security forces were actively working with local law enforcement to ensure the safety of citizens and prevent further incidents.
An Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team has been deployed to the area to detect and dispose of any additional explosives. This marks the second explosive attack in the area within three days, following a similar incident that raised concerns about the growing use of explosives by bandits in the region.
