Kano state launches Nigeria first mobile motor licence centre
The Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) has launched Nigeria’s first-ever mobile motor licence centre, aimed at streamlining vehicle registration and enhancing the state’s revenue generation. The mobile centre, unveiled during the 45th Kano International Trade Fair on Friday, features a state-of-the-art digital Motor Licence Office.
Dr. Zaid Abubakar, Executive Chairman of KIRS, highlighted that this innovative initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve the state’s internal revenue. The mobile centre, which is driven by Information Technology, will enable vehicle registration to be completed conveniently and at any time, overcoming common obstacles traditionally faced by residents.
Dr. Abubakar emphasized that the initiative aligns with Governor Abba Yusuf’s commitment to making it easier for citizens and organizations to pay their dues promptly, thus enhancing the state’s financial systems. The KIRS also announced the launch of two mobile centres with plans to expand the service, ensuring greater coverage across the state.
Muhammad Aliyu, the Executive Director of Compliance and Enforcement at KIRS, expressed optimism that the mobile centres would boost the state’s internally generated revenue by making the motor licence registration process more accessible and efficient for residents.
