Nigeria Customs returns stolen Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, other luxury cars to Canada
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted 21 stolen luxury vehicles, including prestigious brands like Rolls Royce and Lamborghini, valued at billions of naira.
The cars, reportedly stolen from Canada, were recovered through meticulous operations in Lagos and Rivers State.
Among the intercepted vehicles were a Lamborghini Huracan, a Rolls Royce, a Mercedes-AMG GT, a Mercedes-Benz G550, two Range Rovers (2023 and 2018 models), and three 2021 Toyota Highlanders. These high-end cars were seized at locations including Lekki, Tin-Can Island Port, and Onne Port.
NCS Comptroller General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, addressing the press, highlighted the growing issue of vehicle trafficking in the region. “Over the past several months, we have intensified our operations against vehicle trafficking syndicates operating within our borders,” he stated.
Adeniyi noted that West Africa has become a major hub for stolen vehicles in a global trafficking network spanning Europe, North America, South America, and Australia, as confirmed by INTERPOL.
The recovered vehicles have since been handed over to Canadian authorities, underscoring the NCS’s commitment to combating organized crime and fostering international cooperation
