TVC presenter Akashat Ny’mat has criticized Nigerian artist Davido for his remarks about the country’s economy during a recent interview on a U.S. radio program.

In a video shared on X, formerly called Twitter, by @dammiedammie35,  Ny’mat argued that Davido’s comments undermine efforts by President Bola Tinubu to attract foreign investors.

“When the President takes a plane to a country to look for foreign investors, and you go on air to say the economy is in shambles, you’re telling them not to come,” she said during the station morning show that focuses on current and women’s affairs.

Some netizens commended her response to the artist’s remarks, while others disputed strongly with her position, noting that the current economic situation of the country is not encouraging enough to draw in reputable investors.

@AliUthman12 said about Davido’s comment: “This same country that he demarket gave him the fame he has today not America He knows the economy is in shambles and the FG gave him a national award he collected it and praised them He knows the economy is in shambles and he can’t advise his Dad to stop his power plant business but by his interview he can stop any other international investors from coming here to invest that any other average citizens can benefit from. When he meets the truth at the corner that favours him he will smile at it and embrace it meanwhile that’s where he should react to it but he will speak the truth at where he will be praised for it and not to benefit the country.”

@Muhamme07774883  added, “Why will him go and be begging foreigner to come and invest. He should better his country when country’s economic is ok it attract investors to come and invest in without seeking. You don’t go about crying to foreigner when you have everything within your country to make it great.”

@therealdaddymo1 asked: “The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off”. You may not have agreed with the messenger Davido, but the message is clear. Why have multinationals been leaving Nigeria? Why is it not attractive for investors?”

@wolextechh commented, “The funniest thing is that the lady works for TVC station, and TVC is owned by President Tinubu. So, what exactly do you guys expect her to say? Nobody will go against the system that feeds them. Even if they are doing wrong, you’ll still back them up.”
