Nigerian top artist Davido announces ₦300 million donation to orphanages

Nigerian music superstar Davido has announced a donation of ₦300 million to orphanages across Nigeria through his charity, the Davido Adeleke Foundation (DAF).

The singer shared the news on Monday via his official Twitter account, continuing his tradition of philanthropy on his birthday.

“Once again, my birthday this year we [are] donating to orphanages and a charity that helps young people stay away from drug abuse and addiction. This year is ₦300m. Details to follow soon,” Davido wrote.

The Davido Adeleke Foundation, established in 2022, aims to support vulnerable children in collaboration with other charitable organizations.

In July 2023, the foundation announced a donation of over ₦200 million to orphanages, benefitting 13,818 children across the country. Davido also committed to additional donations in 2024.

Reflecting on his passion for giving, Davido stated ealier, “I founded the DAF in 2022 with a strong desire and passion to continually assist and create a proper framework for the ongoing charitable works to benefit the good people of Nigeria.”

The singer’s philanthropic journey began in 2021 when he raised over ₦200 million after publicly sharing his bank details on Twitter (now X). He added ₦50 million of his own money and donated the total sum to orphanages and the Paroche Foundation.
