Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has added another accolade to his impressive career, becoming the joint-second all-time top scorer for the Super Eagles.

Osimhen achieved this feat on Thursday night, netting his 23rd international goal in Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Benin Republic during an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. The goal places him level with Super Eagles legend Segun Odegbami, while the late Rashidi Yekini remains at the top with 37 goals.

At just 25 years old, the Galatasaray forward is well-positioned to surpass Odegbami and possibly close in on Yekini’s long-standing record. He will have another opportunity to add to his tally when Nigeria faces Rwanda in their final 2025 AFCON qualifier on Monday.

Osimhen’s consistent performance underscores his status as one of Africa’s most formidable footballers and a key figure in Nigeria’s quest for glory.
