In response to public outcry following the arrest and arraignment of minors involved in the #EndBadGovernance protests across Nigeria in August, President Bola Tinubu has directed their immediate release.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the announcement following the swearing-in of seven new ministers at the State House.

The Minister explained that the President ordered the minors’ immediate release, with no prejudice against any ongoing legal proceedings.

Additionally, Tinubu instructed the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction to prioritize the welfare of the children and assist in their safe reunification with their parents or guardians nationwide.

In furtherance of this directive, Tinubu ordered the establishment of a committee, led by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, to comprehensively review all aspects related to the arrest, detention, treatment, and release of the minors involved.
