Young Muslim Abdul Azeez AbdulRahmon becomes Lagos State One Day Governor, visits Lagos House, Marina
A young Nigerian Muslim has emerged as a One Day Governor of Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial hub, after he won the 20th Edition of the Spelling Bee Competition in Lagos.
Abdulazeez Abdulrahmon, a student of Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, took his seat as the One Day Governor after he visited the Lagos House, Marina, on Monday.
The One Day Governor was accompanied by the One Day Deputy Governor, Master Oki Sewanu, a student of Ansar-Ud-Deen Senior Grammar School, Badagry and the One Day Secretary to the State Government, Miss. Saheed Alimot-Odere, a student of Jubilee Model Senior Grammar School, Coker Aguda.
Commenting on the feat, the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, commended the next generation of leaders as he expressed confidence that with continued support and encouragement, they will achieve great things and lead us toward a brighter future.
Sanwo-Olu wrote on his Facebook page: “Today, I had the pleasure of receiving a student of Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, Abdulazeez Abdulrahmon, the One Day Governor and Overall Winner of the 20th Edition of the Spelling Bee Competition, at Lagos House, Marina.
“Abdulazeez was accompanied by Oki Sewanu, the One Day Deputy Governor, who is a student at Ansar-Ud-Deen Senior Grammar School in Badagry, and Saheed Alimot-Odere, the One Day Secretary to the State Government, a student at Jubilee Model Senior Grammar School, Coker Aguda.
“This experience not only showcased the talents of these outstanding students but also emphasized the importance of educational competitions in nurturing the potential of our young minds.
“These are the next generation of leaders, and I am confident that with continued support and encouragement, they will achieve great things and lead us toward a brighter future.”
