Hilton Hotel owner Rahman Adedoyin appeals death sentence in high-profile case
Rahman Adedoyin, the convicted owner of Hilton Hotel in Ile-Ife, is set to appeal his death sentence along with two others on Tuesday, November 29, 2024.
The appeal follows a conviction delivered by the Chief Judge of Osun State in May 2023, which found them guilty in the high-profile case surrounding the tragic death of Timothy Adegoke.
During a live Facebook broadcast, Oriyomi Hamzat, the Media CEO at Agidigbo FM, announced the upcoming appeal and extended an invitation to concerned citizens to attend the proceedings in the interest of ensuring total justice.
“I invite every concerned citizen to attend in the interest of total justice,” he stated, underscoring the importance of public engagement in the judicial process.
Hamzat raised questions regarding the choice of Akure as the venue for the appeal, noting that there is an Appeal Court in Oyo State that is closer to the incident’s location and more accessible for all involved parties. Despite his concerns, he remained hopeful that the pursuit of justice would prevail, emphasizing, “Justice is what matters regardless of which court the case is assigned to.”
The case centers around the mysterious circumstances surrounding Timothy Adegoke, an aspiring accountant who checked into the Hilton Hotel, seeking proximity to his examination venue. Tragically, Adegoke’s presence at the hotel went silent after his arrival. His last communication with his wife served as a crucial piece of evidence, leading investigators to the hotel. Despite the management’s initial denials regarding his whereabouts, a thorough search uncovered the grim truth.
Adedoyin and his hotel were found guilty not only of Adegoke’s murder but also of destroying evidence related to his stay and engaging in a criminal conspiracy to cover up the incident. The conviction has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting serious concerns about accountability and justice in the hospitality industry.
