Exclusive: Nigerians react as car refueling at CNG station explode in Edo (Video)
In Edo State, southern Nigeria, a massive explosion rocked a filling station during a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refueling operation.
Eyewitnesses report that some people were injured in the blast. The explosion also damaged a vehicle that was being refueled, causing widespread panic in the area.
The cause of the blast is yet to be determined, but authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
The blast has raised concerns about the safety of CNG refueling operations and cars using the fuel, despite massive campaigns by the Federal Government as a measure to lower the cost of transportation following the removal of fuel subsidies.

Reacting to the blast, Richard Oluwaniyi argued that CNG “is not a solution to our problem in Nigeria” because the country’s weather is too hot.
To Adeniran Adedeji Nojeem, “Safety rules concerning it must have been compromised, we Nigerians like to re-invent so to either reduce cost or elongate its durability,” he said.
Idowu Olatunbosun Patrick advocated the use of CNG, stressing that “Anyone that needs to convert his/her vehicle should contact accredited conversion center…. Don’t let “I can do it cheaper put you in trouble…..Let’s be guided please. #CNGisSafe.”
Kenechukwu Desmond added, “Exploding without fire outbreak means that it’s far more safely assured compared with pms and cooking gas.”
