President Tinubu pays special tribute to Prof. Ishaq Oloyede as Nigerian academic icon turns 70
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to Professor Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), as the Nigerian academic icon turns 70.
President Tinubu, in his special tribute, hailed Prof. Oloyede as an exceptional administrator, educator, author, and scholar, whose contributions to academia and public service have greatly impacted the nation.
Prof. Oloyede’s illustrious career includes his tenure as Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, where he introduced groundbreaking ideas and innovations. He has also taught and mentored thousands of students, imparting knowledge and character, Tinubu remarked, adding that his dedication to education is particularly significant, given its crucial role in national development.
The President praised Prof. Oloyede’s leadership as the JAMB registrar, noting that the board has undergone transformative reforms and technological advancements, ensuring transparency and credibility in Nigeria’s admission process.
He added that his commitment to financial integrity and accountability in public service has set a high standard. As Prof. Oloyede celebrates this milestone birthday, his legacy serves as a beacon of hope for Nigeria’s future.
Tinubu said, “In his eight years of stewardship at the board, thus far, Prof. Oloyede has demonstrated an uncommon commitment to financial integrity and accountability in public service. He has also raised the bar in administration and management.
“I am proud of Prof. Oloyede’s accomplishments.
“On this occasion of his 70th birthday, I join members of the academic community, students, JAMB staff, and well-wishers in celebrating this scholar who, in words and deeds, has also done a lot to propagate the Islamic religion.
“I pray that Almighty Allah will continue to honour the distinguished professor with health, wisdom and strength to serve the nation for many more years,” Tinubu concluded.
