Popular Islamic scholar voices concern on fuel price hike, predicts Tinubu’s fate in 2027 poll
Popular Islamic scholar, Sheikh Aliyu Ibrahim has predicted that the economic hardship brought on by this development would severely damage President Bola Tinubu’s chances for re-election in 2027
The scholar said this while reacting to the sudden hikes in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol.
He expressed deep concern over the worsening economic conditions caused by the move.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) announced on Tuesday an increase in fuel prices from N617 to N897 per litre, sparking widespread chaos across the country. The surge has led to sharp rises in transportation fares and the prices of goods and services.
In a viral video, Sheikh Ibrahim voiced his frustration, describing the fuel price hike as “madness.”
He said, “no sane person would support his re-election” under such conditions.
“The hike in PMS price is a total madness, whoever advised the president to do this is mad.
“And this is yet another sign that Tinubu would lose his reelection bid, because no sane person would vote for those who took the PMS price from N180 – N1,000”.
