Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has lauded the philanthropic efforts of Bill Gates, who is currently in Nigeria to support the country’s health sector.

In a post on his X handle on Tuesday, Sani commended the billionaire for his selfless contributions to Nigeria’s development.

Sani expressed dismay that despite Gates’ significant investments of hundreds of millions of dollars in Nigeria’s development over the years, he has faced unwarranted criticism, conspiracy theories, and accusations. Sani’s praise comes as Gates continues his humanitarian mission in Nigeria, underscoring the importance of recognizing and appreciating philanthropic efforts.

He said: “Is Bill Gate a friend or an enemy? Recently, a German Coach was invited to Nigeria to lead our Super Eagles, he turned down the offer and gave reasons. A dent on the Image of our country;

“Should we appreciate Mr Gates who believes and sticks with us or not? Ours is a country that is damaged globally as a heaven for internet fraudsters, drug traffickers and money launderers. Mr Gates doesn’t believe in all these and still chose our country.

“Some countries have placed a visa ban on our citizens,some countries deport our citizens and some countries even deny entry visas for our citizens, rubbishing our image internationally. Mr Gates still chose our country.

“Many multinational companies are pulling out of Nigeria for economic and security reasons, Mr Gates is unbothered and remained with us. Other World acclaimed Billionaires chose other African, Asian and Latin American countries,Gates chose to be here.

“For near two decades, Mr Gates and his Gates Foundation have been intervening on matters of health, Education and infrastructure in some of our communities.

“Many US billionaires chose South Africa and Gates opted for Nigeria and yet this ingratitude and smears.

“The man who stood with you in good, bad and worst moments is indeed a friend.”
