Daring rescue: Firemen save mother, two kids from Kano building wreckage
The Kano State Fire Service successfully rescued a mother and her two sons from a collapsed building in the Makwarari area of Kano Municipal Local Government.
The rescue operation was confirmed by Saminu Abdullahi, the organization’s Public Relations Officer, in a statement released in Kano.
According to Abdullahi, the collapsed building was a one-story residential structure measuring 30ft by 40ft. The Fire Service received an emergency call at 9:30 a.m. on Friday from staff member Ibrahim Isah, prompting a swift response from firemen.
He added, “We received an emergency call on Friday, around 9:30a.m, from our control room by one of our staff members, Ibrahim Isah, that a building collapsed. Upon receiving the information, we quickly dispatched firemen to the scene.”
Fortunately, the victims – Balaraba Abba (35), and her sons Abdulnasir Jilani (12), and Abdullahi Jilani (9) – were rescued alive and taken to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital for medical attention.
The cause of the building collapse is currently under investigation.
