Breaking: NLC president released after one-hour questioning at Police IRT office
President of the Nigeria Labour Congress Ajaero has departed the Nigeria Police headquarters in Abuja after he was drilled in a session which lasted approximately one hour.
He arrived at the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) command in Guzape at 10:20 a.m., accompanied by renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana.
Recall that the police authorities had invited the labour leader for questioning over alleged links to terrorism financing.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) threatened to take all necessary actions, including mass protests and industrial actions, if anything happens to the President of the Congress, Joe Ajaero or other top members following allegations of criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime by the Nigeria Police Force.
The threat to ground industrial activities came after the police requested the presence of the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, for an investigation into alleged criminal conspiracy, and terrorism financing among others.
While reacting to the invitation, the Executive Council said the move is premised on a clearly unfounded and politically motivated investigation.
It then asked all its affiliates and state councils to proceed on indefinite nationwide strike action by midnight should any harm happen to Mr. Ajaero.
