Lagos Police arrest nurse over patient’s death during beauty enhancement surgery
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a nurse in connection with the alleged death of a 36-year-old woman, identified as Abiola.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this information on Wednesday in Lagos.
According to Hundeyin, the nurse was taken into custody following a report received by the Maroko Police Division on Tuesday at approximately 11:40 a.m. from the deceased’s driver, whose name was not disclosed.
The driver reported that his employer had requested his assistance in transporting her to a clinic in Lekki Phase 1 for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure at around 3:00 a.m. on Monday. The clinic is located in Lekki Phase 1, and the deceased resided at Diamond Estate, Sangotedo-Lekki.
According to the police spokesperson, on arrival, the owner of the clinic (name not mentioned), instructed a nurse to inject the now-deceased lady, who later became unconscious and started gasping for breath.
“The victim was rescued and rushed to another hospital in Lekki Phase 1 for treatment, where she was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. Based on the report, the scene was visited by a team of detectives. The hospital was also visited, where the corpse was inspected and photographed, before it was evacuated to a public morgue for autopsy,” he said.
The Police PPRO added that the said nurse had been arrested for immediate investigations.
