Shehu Sani charges state governors to take caution with foreign contracts

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has called on Nigerian state governors to be mindful of signing contracts with foreign companies to avoid confiscating key national assets.

The warning by the outspoken ex-lawmaker comes as Nigeria is embroiled in a contractual dispute with Chinese firm Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Limited.

The company has been authorized to seize three Nigerian government aircraft – a Dassault Falcon 7X, an Airbus A330-243, and a Boeing 737-7N6/BBJ – in a recent court order.

This development follows the 2016 revocation of Fucheng’s export processing zone management contract by the Ogun State Government, which has led to the ongoing legal dispute.

Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “All the State Governors signing contracts with foreign firms should be careful so that they will not start seizing the diaspora properties after they confiscate all our remaining planes.”
