UofA to resume full academic activities after ASUU strike suspension
The University of Abuja (UofA) has announced the resumption of full academic activities following the suspension of the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
This announcement, made by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi, marks a pivotal moment for students and faculty who have endured a prolonged disruption in their academic calendar.
The university administration has set Monday, 29th July 2024, as the official date for the recommencement of lectures and all academic engagements. The decision comes after the local ASUU chapter called off its strike, bringing relief to the university community.
In a heartfelt message to the students, Professor Maikudi expressed her gratitude for their patience and resilience during the challenging period of the strike. She acknowledged the significant impact the strike had on students’ academic progress and assured them of the administration’s commitment to facilitating a smooth transition back to regular academic activities.
Students are required to return to the University campus by the weekend preceding the resumption date to adequately prepare for lectures.
The administration has directed all faculty members to resume their teaching responsibilities promptly and to provide any necessary support to students.
The university is dedicated to maintaining an optimal learning environment and will ensure that all necessary resources are available to support students in their academic endeavors. Students are encouraged to utilize the support services offered, including academic advising, counseling, and other essential student services.
The University of Abuja is poised to welcome its students back, with a renewed focus on academic excellence and student support. The administration’s proactive measures aim to ensure that the disruption caused by the strike does not hinder the academic progress of its students.
