Breaking: Labour unions acknowledge receipt as Tinubu approves 70,000 minimum wage
President Bola Tinubu has approved N70, 000 as the new National Minimum Wage following extensive negotiations with organised labour unions.
The approval came after a just concluded meeting at the Presidential Villa Abuja, on Thursday, with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress.
A statement by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, stressed that President Tinubu also vowed to find ways to help the private sector and sub-national entities meet the minimum wage requirement.
Meanwhile, the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, has confirmed that the unions had accepted the offer.
