Breaking: KWASU management responds to Afri Reporters’ report, punishes student involved in controversial skit
Kwara State University (KWASU) has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding zero tolerance for indiscipline following a controversial skit made by one of its students, Abdulkarim Oniwiridi.
Following the report by this news outlet, the university has swiftly responded, emphasizing that the content does not reflect the institution’s values or the ethical standards of its students.
The university’s management has taken prompt action, directing the disablement of the student’s portal pending a thorough investigation by the Student Disciplinary Committee.
The State-owned institution stressed that the decision demonstrates its dedication to maintaining a culture of decency and respect, aligned with the values promoted by all religions.
In a statement, the university’s Acting Director of University Relations, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, reiterated KWASU’s commitment to producing graduates who excel in both character and learning.
The statement reads, “The University would like to state categorically that the skits are not a reflection of the values of the institution, nor do they reflect the ethical orientation of the larger number of KWASU students.
“KWASU is an institution that prides herself as producing the total graduate, both in character and in learning, and has zero tolerance for any form of indiscipline.
“As such, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has directed first-line punitive measures of disabling the concerned student’s portal pending the outcome of investigation by the Student Disciplinary Committee.
“We wish to reiterate that Kwara State University holds in high esteem the values of decency that all religions promote and will not condone any act that can jeopardise this value.”
