The Dangote Refinery has announced that it will begin producing petrol by mid-July, with the aim of ending Nigeria’s reliance on imported fuel.

Aliko Dangote, the company’s president and CEO, told newsmen that petrol production will commence between July 10 and 15, with supply to the local market expected by the third week of July

This development comes after a slight delay in the refinery’s initial production timeline, which was slated for June. However, Dangote has assured that the company is committed to ensuring the quality of its product before it hits the market.

“We had a bit of delay, but PMS will start coming out by 10 to 15 of July. But then we want to keep it in the tank to make sure that it settles. So by the third week of July, we’ll be able to come out to take it into the market,” the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote said.

The Dangote Refinery, which is one of the largest in the world, has already begun supplying diesel and aviation fuel to local marketers and has exported its first shipment of jet fuel to Europe.

The refinery’s production capacity is 650,000 barrels per day, and it is expected to significantly reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imported petroleum products and improve the nation’s economy.
