Plateau bloodshed: Governor Caleb Mutfwang calls for calm, condemns “barbaric act”

In a reaction to the fresh bloodshed in Plateau State, Governor Caleb Mutfwang  has appealed to the residents of the state to remain calm over the violent attack on the Chikam community in Bokkos Local Government Area.

The governor made the charge in a statement issued by his spokesman, Gyang Bere, on Friday in Jos.

“We condemn this barbaric act, but we want to reassure Plateau citizens, particularly students of our university, of our unwavering commitment to safeguarding their lives and property.

“I want to urge everyone to remain calm in the face of this tragedy. Government is determined to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for the crime,” he said.

Governor Mutfwang highlighted the need for of cooperation among residents, community leaders, and security agencies to ensure safety and security.

The latest in the state led to the killings of scores of residents, including a 200-level Computer Science student of the Plateau University, Bokkos.

The Plateau State Police Command on Friday confirmed that the attack claimed 13 lives and left three people injured.
