Against, terrorists storm Kaduna, whisk away 87 people in fresh attack
The hydra-headed monster of kidnapping again raised its ugly head in Nigeria as terrorists on Sunday night whisked away 87 people in a renewed attack on the Kajuru-Station community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Eye witness accounts revealed that terrorists stormed the village around 10 pm, and also laid siege on some shops and parted with food items and other valuables.
The attack happened just two days after a man and fifteen women were kidnapped in the same local government’s Dogon-Noma neighbourhood.
Kajuru and Chikun LGs have become the epicentre of kidnapping during the last two weeks, adding to the already tension-soaked situation in the state.
A member of the community, Harisu Dari, noted that security agencies are yet to arrive to help restore the confidence of the villagers who are currently traumatized by the sad occurrence.
He highlighted the need for the state and Federal Governments to wake up to their responsibilities in tackling the scourge of insecurity that is ravaging the state.
He was quoted by the Daily Post saying, “As of the time I visited the community this morning, security operatives have not been drafted to help restore the confidence of the villagers.
“The villagers are traumatized by the sad development. The government needs to re-strategise in tackling these terrorists,” he said.
Mass kidnapping of schoolchildren and villagers in northern Nigeria are common since the 2014 abduction of over 200 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno state.
In recent years, the abductions have become dominant in the northwestern and central regions, where hundreds of armed groups frequently target villagers and travelers for large ransom payments.
