Marriage of Nigeria’s richest woman, Folorunsho Alakija, collapses
After more than three decades of marital harmony, former society matriarch turned gospel minister, Folorunsho Alakija, is facing a profound marital crisis.
According to highly credible sources close to THEWILL, Nigeria’s wealthiest woman and mother of four has reportedly separated from her husband, Modupe.
Reports say the businessman no longer shares their matrimonial bed in their upscale Ikoyi, Lagos residence, leading to speculation about the state of their marriage.
The couple has allegedly been experiencing frequent conflicts, prompting the wealthy woman to request maximum privacy within their home.
Reports added that the union between the two has been forcefully sustained to maintain a common front due to their status.
Efforts to strengthen the union obviously collapsed at the time when she was struggling with her health, particularly her eyes.
According to Forbes magazine, the vice chair of Famfa Oil, a Nigerian oil exploration company with a stake in Agbami Oilfield, a prolific offshore asset, is 1 billion US dollar rich with several assets.
Alakija’s first company was a fashion label whose customers included the wife of former Nigerian president Ibrahim Babangida.
The Nigerian government awarded Alakija’s company an oil prospecting license in 1993, which was later converted to an oil mining lease.
