Dozens of Palestinians killed, others wounded in latest Israeli offensives
No fewer than 40 Palestinians were killed and several others severely injured in Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, according to the Gaza Media Office.
“The Israeli occupation army has committed a horrific massacre in central Gaza, where fighter jets bombed four civilian homes, resulting in the deaths of 40 martyrs and more than 100 injuries,” the media office announced.
It faulted the US government, the international community and the Israeli forces for the latest bloodshed that has wreaked havoc on the enclave.
The media office also explained that about 90% of the victims of the latest fighting were women and children while adding that “the American administration, the international community and the (Israeli) occupation fully responsible for these ongoing crimes.”
It called on “the free world to immediately and urgently stop the genocidal war being waged by the occupation army against civilians, including children and women.”
Israel launched a violent military offensive in the Gaza Strip after an Oct. 7 cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas.
At least 29,410 Palestinians have been killed and 69,465 injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. The revised death toll in Israel from the October 7 attacks stands at 1,139.
The UN says the bombardment of the enclave has pushed 85% of the territory’s population into internal displacement amid acute shortages of food, clean water and medicine, while 60% of Gaza’s infrastructure is severely damaged or destroyed.
Recall that South Africa accused Israel of genocide in a case presented at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
Despite the ruling, violent attacks have continued unabated and efforts have not been enhanced to address the humanitarian catastrophe in the war-torn territory.
