Just in: Former Kwara State governor breaks silence on fresh visit to EFCC office
Abdulfatah Ahmed, former governor of Kwara State, has clarified his visit to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He declared that he was at the office of the EFCC as part of a routine visit to the agency.
Abdulfatah, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulwahab Oba, explained that the top politician in Kwara State only honoured an invitation by the anti-graft agency, adding that there’s nothing unusual about it.
The statement added that the governor is ready to answer questions about his time as governor of the state.
“Dr Ahmed’s visit to the EFCC is procedural and routine. He was invited, and he honoured them as he’s always done.
“He’s always ready to respond to any query or question regarding his tenure as governor of the state.
So, there’s nothing unusual about the invitation and his honouring the anti-graft agency.”
The former banker who served as governor from 2011 to 2019, was undergoing interrogation at the EFCC’s zonal office in Ilorin as earlier reported by Afri Reporters.
Ahmed was appointed as the Commissioner for Finance in Kwara after Saraki assumed office as governor in 2003.
Ahmed left office in 2019 after serving two terms in office and was succeeded by the incumbent governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who emerged on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
