“We will only bow to God not RCCG members” — Angry Christians reply to Pastor Adeboye’s controversial prayer point

The recent prayer uttered by Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has ignited a fervent response from angered Christians across various denominations.

In a widely circulated video capturing a moment at an RCCG gathering, Pastor Adeboye can be heard praying fervently, imploring divine intervention with the words, “Christians from other denominations will bow before you.”

This particular invocation has now become the epicenter of a heated debate among believers from different Christian denominations.

The ripple effect of Pastor Adeboye’s prayer has seen a swift backlash, with a collective voice rising from Christians who vehemently assert, “We will bow to God, not RCCG members.”

This response underscores a firm stance that their reverence is reserved solely for the divine, rejecting the notion of bowing before fellow human beings.

The controversy has prompted discussions on the appropriateness of such prayers and the potential impact on the unity of the broader Christian community. As believers grapple with differing perspectives, the incident has brought to light the delicate balance between religious practices and the need for respect among diverse faiths.

This unexpected clash of convictions within the Christian community is shedding light on broader questions about interdenominational relations and the boundaries of religious influence.

HC Oduro Oladunni reacted, “We will bow to God, and not to Redeemed Church members, or any persons for that matter.”

Also reacting, Chuwendu Zummie wrote,” When you think you’ve heard it all 🤥🤥. That’s how they keep bringing division.
We’re the Body of Christ as believers; how can my head bow down to my eyes or my knees 🤔🙄.
Na waa!”

Gboyega Moses said Adeboye ought to have retired. He said, “This is why brother Adeboye should have retired jeje when he clocked 65. What kind of message is this? This didn’t emanate from the Spirit of Christ. Haba? It shows a crash lack of understanding of the concept of the Kingdom of God which is not divided into camps. One says I’m of Apolos and others say I’m of Paul…Christ and his Kingdom is not divided. It’s one body and one spirit one baptism and one Lord that is over all.”

Chris Boniface stated, “hahahahahah only in Africa you would hear this kind of confused message. Would GO go to EU or America to preach this? Our major problem isnt our country but our concept and mindset.”

Paul Onyebi, expressing his disappointment, doubted the originality of the prayer and the resounding amen. He reacted, “How realistic is this prayer and the loud amen that followed it. People don’t think before they say amen.

I will not blame Baba, I pity those who shouted amen because they’ll be disappointed.”

“Who are the Christians here? Is he not a Christian himself again? Who was he addressing? Christian, saved or unsaved, non Christians ?????” Ferdinard Senyo Lawson wrote.

Temitayo Samuel Ojo wrote, “I will ONLY bow to Almighty God and not idolising any human being while I am alive and even my dead body will not do so in the future.”
