NSCIA urges Muslims to watch out for Sha’aban 1445AH crescent moon
In an official statement released today, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has called upon the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria to eagerly anticipate the sighting of the crescent moon for Sha’aban 1445AH.
The directive, issued by the esteemed President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alh. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, encourages observance after sunset on Saturday, 29th Rajab 1445AH – scheduled for 10th February 2024.
The announcement, delivered by Prof. Salisu Shehu, Deputy Secretary General of NSCIA, underscores the significance of this celestial event in the Islamic calendar.
The anticipated moon, scientifically predicted to occur on Friday, 9th February 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Nigerian time, signals the commencement of Sha’aban 1445AH.
It’s crucial to note that despite the calculated conjunction time, actual moon sightings may vary due to environmental factors, making vigilance and keen observation paramount for accurate determination.
