Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has announced that he will personally visit President Bola Tinubu to apprise him of the situation in Kano, where hunger and malnutrition have resulted from exorbitant prices for basic necessities.

The Kano State governor said this during a meeting with the business community and other stakeholders, at the Government House, Kano, on Monday.

“I’m going to personally reports the devastating hunger and starvation, coupled with rising prices of essential commodities in Kano, with a view for the President to intervene and help bring succor to the people,” he said.

Speaking on the moves of his administration to ease the current hardship in the state, he said, “One of the measures we are considering is the streamlining of tax collection to allow businesses thrive in Kano, so that instead of every hour collectors are busy disturbing members of the business community, they should pay either monthly.”

Prices of food, fuel, transportation and telecommunication increased to new record levels as Nigeria’s inflation rate passed 28 percent in recent times.

This rising inflation has taken a heavy toll on the socio-economic activities of the nation despite the ongoing transformation by the new president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
