The N50 billion lawsuit brought by Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, against the Nigerian government, has been adjourned to April 27 by a Federal High Court in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The case was adjourned by Justice Inyang Ekwo after Kanu’s attorney, Aloy Ejimakor, told the court that his client had recently submitted a request for a change of counsel.

Ejimakor informed the court that Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, who had filed the lawsuit on April 7, 2022, would be handing it over to him.

The presiding judge, after noting that no counsel appeared for the defendants, ordered that a hearing notice be issued and served on them against the next adjourned date.

The leader of the IPOB Kanu was dragged to court by the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF as 1st and 2nd defendants, in the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/462/2022.

Kanu is also sued the defendants over allegations bordering on violations of his rights.  he also alleged that he was kidnapped from Kenya and brought back to Nigeria to stand trial.
