One of Nigeria’s ace sports pundits, Bayour Issah, has called on the Super Eagles of Nigeria to prepare for an acid test against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon as the two sides trade tackles in the winner-take-all knockout clash in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

Nigeria faces Cameroon on Saturday at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan, a stadium that brings back many memories for both teams.

Speaking on the chances of the Nigerian side, Bayour Issah charged the Super Eagles to take the match seriously from the blast of the whistle until the end as he described the Cameroons as “a tough nut to crack.”

The CEO and Publisher of Sportpro News explained that “Nigeria and Cameroon are perennial rivals. There is this butterfly in our stomach anytime Nigeria is playing Cameroon, knowing that we cannot predict if it (the outcome) will happen this way or that way. This has been happening since the days of Segun Odegbami, Roger Miller, and others.

“We have seen that Cameroon is a hard nut to crack, but of recent they have not been doing well. Against Nigeria, they will put up a sterling performance. “

To stand a chance of winning the tie, Mr Sports stressed that Nigeria needs strong teamwork to triumph.

He charged the team to bury their chances early and defend brilliantly well against the aggressive opponents.

A total of eight TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations trophies is spread amongst the two nations: Five for the Indomitable Lions (1984, 1988, 2000, 2002 and 2017) and three for the Super Eagles (1980, 1994 and 2013).

A win for either side will secure the team a place in the semi-final.
