LG chairmen vow to deliver more dividends of democracy

Chairmen of local governments in Lagos State have assured residents of their respective council areas of more dividends of democracy in 2024.

Some of the council chairmen gave the assurance in separate new-year messages on Monday in Lagos.

They urged residents to continue to support the government at all levels in the implementation of their development plans.

Ganiyu Egunjobi, the executive chairman of Agege Local Government, thanked residents for their consistent support for his administration.

He said the council acquitted itself remarkably well in the delivery of democratic dividends in 2023.

Mr Egunjobi, however, said that the council would not relent in its efforts to further impact lives in the council area in 2024.

“In 2023, the council did a lot to impact lives and give our people hope .We assure residents we will do more to deliver dividends of democracy this year”, he said.

Mr Egunjobi said a number of life-changing projects were executed in the education sector. heath sector and other sectors in 2023, adding many more projects would be delivered in 2024.

Olushola Ajala, executive chairman Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA) , thanked residents for their support.

He said the council would reward their support with more dividends of democracy in 2024.

Mr Ajala also called for support for President Bola Tinubu, and Gov. Babajide Sanwoolu to deliver more democratic dividends .

“As we welcome the New Year, it is a fitting moment to acknowledge the positive aspects of the past year and anticipate the accomplishments yet to unfold in the next 365 days.

“We have encountered both beautiful moments and challenges in the past year, and these experiences would not have been the same without the special people in our lives.

“A New Year is akin to a blank book, with the pen in our hands. It presents an opportunity to script a beautiful narrative for ourselves as a community.

“It’s time to embark on this journey with renewed hopes and expectations.

“I want to convey my gratitude to everyone who contributed to making last year eventful.

“I urge the community to support the governments of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sanwoolu for a better life for us all,” he said.

Ahmed Apatira, executive chairman Itire-Ikate LCDA, in his message , urged Nigerians to use the new year to renew their commitment to the progress and development of the country.

Mr Ajala urged citizens to shun acts capable of undermining the development of the country.

He advised residents to hope for the best in 2024.

“We urge residents to collectively look to the New Year 2024 with renewed optimism and vigour. Brighter days are ahead of us,” he said.

David Famuyiwa, the executive chairman, Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA ,also thanked residents for their support for his administration.

He said he and his team members would continue to work for the good of the people of the area.

“I want to appreciate you all, irrespective of affiliation or disposition, for your patience, understanding and support as we work together to make Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA better and greater,” he said.

Hammed Tijani, executive chairman Ojokoro LCDA, urged residents to hope for a better country in 2024.

“As we bid farewell to a challenging year, let us embrace hope for a brighter 2024.

“Despite the trials of 2023, let us stand united, resilient, and hopeful for positive changes ahead.

“Together, we can build a future filled with opportunities and progress.

“May this new year be better than the previous years. Be hopeful, it is going to be a better phase of life,” he said
