Just in: Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State is dead
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has been confirmed dead after his recent struggle with an undisclosed health challenge.
He died in Lagos on Wednesday at the age of 67.
However, Premium Times reports that e died of leukemia and prostate cancer, two ailments that had made him incapacitated for several months.
The Ondo State governor was managed by State House doctors up to his death because they could not fly him outside the shores of the country due to his delicate health condition.
In September, the sick governor returned to Nigeria after a three-month medical break in Germany.
He recently went on another medical leave after President Bola Tinubu asked him to hand over responsibility to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
