Russia has announced that one of its warships was damaged during a Ukrainian raid in the Black Sea.

The strike occurred overnight on Monday in the Russian-occupied Crimean port of Feodosiya.

The large landing ship Novocherkassk was hit by Ukrainian aircraft carrying guided missiles, according to the Ministry of Defence.

One person was killed in the attack, according to the Russian-installed head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov.’

“And the fleet in Russia is getting smaller and smaller! Thanks to the Air Force pilots and everyone involved for the filigree work!” the commander of Ukraine’s air force, Mykola Oleshchuk, said on the Telegram messaging app, without providing evidence, according to Reuters.

The port’s transportation operations are reported to be running normally after the area was cordoned off and a fire generated by the attack was put out.

Footage supposedly showing a massive explosion in the port area has surfaced on social media.

Crimea is recognized as part of Ukraine; however, it is now occupied by Russia after being captured and annexed in 2014.
