Plateau attacks: Tinubu orders security agencies to bring perpetrators to book
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered security agencies to, as a matter of urgency, fish out the perpetrators of the Christmas Day attacks in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
In a statement signed Tuesday by the Special Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu asked the security agents to bring the criminals who went on rampage to book.
“President Bola Tinubu strongly condemns the heinous and brutal attacks in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State, which resulted in the tragic loss of many lives.
“President Tinubu directs security agencies to immediately move in, scour every stretch of the zone, and apprehend the culprits.
“The President also directs immediate mobilisation of relief resources for surviving victims of the primitive and cruel attacks as well as medical treatment for the wounded.”
While commiserating with the government and the people of Plateau State, Tinubu assured Nigerians that “these envoys of death, pain, and sorrow will not escape justice.”
Recall that military gangs, locally called “bandits,” launched “well-coordinated” attacks in “not fewer than 20 different communities” and torched houses, according to Monday Kassah, head of the local government in Bokkos, Plateau State.
The violent attacks led to the deaths of about 160 people with several others injured.
Amnesty International faulted the government, saying “the Nigerian authorities have been failing to end frequent deadly attacks on rural communities of Plateau state,” in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
