Nigeria’s Victor Boniface wins Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award for record time
Bayer Leverkusen and the Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, Victor Boniface, has won the Rookie of the Month award for the sixth time this season after he was announced the winner of the individual award in December.
The 22-year-old Nigerian talent received the accolade in August, September, October, and November.
In December alone, Boniface has scored three goals and provided two assists in his three league appearances for the Xabi Alonso-tutored side.
In total, the striker has scored nine goals in 15 league matches for Leverkusen this season.
He has netted four times in the UEFA Europa League for the German club.
The player is expected to feature for Nigeria at the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast later in January. He will be replacing Taiwo Awoniyi who has been ruled out due to injury.
Nigeria will face Equatorial Guinea in their first tie in the 2023 AFCON finals at the Alhassan Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe on January 14.
Four days later, they play the hosts, Cote d’Ivoire, at the same venue.
The Eagles will round up their campaign against Guinea-Bissau on January 22.
