Tinubu’s intervention in Rivers not born out of politics—Presidency
The Presidency has declared that President Bola Tinubu was fully prepared to take the needed measures if the crisis engulfing Rivers State politics was not resolved at the time it prevailed on the impasse.
The Presidency, through its spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, said the need for the intervention by President Tinubu was not born out of politics. He stressed that the president had to prevail over the imbroglio as the father of the nation.
Recall that Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his immediate predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who have been locking horns on political differences, on Monday, agreed to bring the impasse that has dominated the country’s political space for several weeks.
“The motive of the President in this case is clearly not a political one. He’s the father of the nation.
“He’s the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. It’s his primary responsibility to ensure that there’s peace, stability and security in all parts of the country.
“If he sees that peace is breaking down in any part of the country, this is a President that will take action. But nobody should be mistaken, His Excellency, Mr President, was fully ready and equipped to take a very hard action if this resolution was not reached.
“So it is of great relief to the Rivers people and Nigerians at large that a resolution has been reached.”
