In a significant turn of events, the organised labour has decided to suspend its nationwide indefinite strike, which commenced on Tuesday, November 14.

The decision was made following a crucial meeting between key labour leaders and top government officials, including the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong.

The suspension comes on the heels of a plea from Nuhu Ribadu, who implored the labour movement to reconsider its stance, citing the arrest of individuals involved in the attack on Ajaero.

The strike, initially triggered by various grievances, took a new direction as security concerns escalated.

Festus Osifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), spearheaded a delegation of labour leaders to engage in discussions at the National Security Adviser’s office.

Following the talks, Osifo affirmed that the outcomes of their conversations with federal government officials would be presented to their respective organizational bodies.

The decision to suspend the strike indicates a willingness to engage in dialogue and seek resolution through diplomatic channels.

This development marks a significant pause in the labour action that had sent ripples across the nation, affecting various sectors. As the labour leaders return to their respective constituencies, the suspension of the strike leaves room for further negotiations and potentially sets the stage for addressing the underlying issues that led to the industrial action in the first place.
